Privacy policy

What the platform records, what it does with it, and who it is sent to. This page describes how the service actually works; the full legal notices will be published later.

Who handles your data

The information described below is collected and stored by Private Honors, which operates this site and its services. For any question about your data, write to contact@privatehonors.com.

Data collected

Account: your email address, your password — stored only in hashed form, never in clear text —, your first and last name, the company name for a company account, the display language, your referral code and, where applicable, the account that referred you. Sign-in: every open session and every password reset request is stored as a hashed token. Membership: the customer identifier issued by Stripe. Booking: the contact email and phone number, the first and last name of the lead traveller for each room, the ages of children, the country of residence, the hotel, the dates and the amounts of the stay. Gift card: the buyer's email, the recipient's email when provided, and the message attached to the card. We also log our calls to the hotel partner so that a booking can be traced; names, emails, phone numbers and IP addresses are masked in those logs.

What they are used for

This information is used to hold your account and sign you in; to manage your membership and compute the member rate; to place your bookings with the hotel partner and follow their outcome; to issue gift cards and keep their balance; to send you the emails tied to those operations — confirmation, cancellation, failed payment, password reset; to link a referred person to their referrer; and to trace a booking when something goes wrong.

Providers involved

Stripe handles membership, booking and gift card payments as well as refunds, and hosts the pages where card details are entered. Resend delivers transactional emails. Brevo hosts the newsletter mailing list and delivers its campaigns: if you subscribe, your email address and the site language are passed to Brevo for that purpose. Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon, and the site is hosted and executed on Vercel. Our hotel partner ETG/RateHawk receives the data needed to place bookings. Finally, the map shown on a hotel page loads its background tiles from OpenStreetMap's servers, which therefore receive your browser's IP address.

What is sent to the hotel partner

To place a booking, our hotel partner ETG/RateHawk receives the contact email and phone number, the first and last name of the lead traveller for each room, the number of occupants and the ages of children, the country of residence, the hotel and the dates of the stay, along with the IP address the booking is requested from.

Accessing your information

Your account shows your membership status and your booking history; a booking's management page opens from that history or from the link included in its emails. Any request about your personal data can be sent to contact@privatehonors.com.
